Kreuznacher Kahlenberg Riesling Hochgewächs Silver Medal

|
Hochgewächs is a fairly new designation for German wines. Since Prädikat wines cannot be enriched (chaptalized), many Kabinetts end up being very low in alcohol, and also in body. Hochgewächs is essentially a Kabinett that has been enriched to raise its alcoholic strength, resulting in a wine with somewhat more flavor and body. The Kreuznacher Kahlenberg is one of the Nahe's finest vineyards and 100% Riesling. These wines from the Staatsweingut posses the classical Riesling nose of peach and citrus fruits. The wine has good body and intensity with a tremendous burst of Granny Smith Apple that balances the wine's fine acidity, creating a fantastic drinking experience. KKHS03
