This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. On the nose, dark plum blend with complex notes of cinnamon, and undertones of chocolate and anise. With well-integrated oak, this wine displays cinnamon, boysendberry, and mocha flavors, with medium tannins and balanced acidity. Murrieta's Well is named after the legendary gold rush-era desperado, Joaquin Murrieta, who camped by the artesian well on the property on his way to Mexico to sell wild horses. This historic property was brought back to life in 1990 by Phil Wente andd winemaker Sergio Traverso.
